Silly Counting Walks:
Developing basics skills is important to do at a young age. Try having one day a week where you take your child outside and make a game out of learning how to count. Have your child count how many ants they see or how many leaves have fallen off the tree. Make it an adventure with windy walking trails and walks by water. Your child will enjoy exploring outside and be learning a fundamental element in their life at the same time
Funny Face Cookies:
All kids like to help their mommies and daddies. To implement some basic cooking rules in your child's life you can make silly face cookies. After baking a sheet of plain sugar cookies have your child utilize their creative side and let them decorate the cookies with different faces. Your child will have thinking of different faces they can put on their cookies and they will feel like they are helping you finish something.
Handprint Placemats:
Handprint Placemats are a great rainy day activity for your little one. All you need is some poster board, contact paper, markers or crayons and you're all set. Have your child trace their handprints, or your handprints on a piece of poster board. Then they can let their imagination run wild and decorate it any way they want using the markers and crayons. If you want to go really crazy you can use glitter, string, buttons, sequins, etc. I would suggest helping your child if using any of those things though. When they are all done line the poster board with contact paper and your child a new placemat to use for your family meals. The best part is its easy to make, easy to use, easy to clean up and easy to make over and over again.
Story Time:
Reading to your young child is essential. Trying to dedicate some time everyday to reading with your child is important. When reading to your child take some time to allow your child to point out any shapes, colors, animals, letters, words, and numbers they recognize. Allowing your child this time helps get them interested in learning new things and is absolutely necessary when helping your child to learn letter and word recognition.
