The most exciting feature of this aquarium is a 200, 000 cylindrical tank that houses sharks, turtles, and many smaller- reef fish. The tank is surrounded by a spiral staircase with 52 different vantage points for the aquarium visitors to use. Another popular feature is the 150,000 gallon penguin tank. The exhibit has three different types of penguins and is a feature that everyone visits when going to the New England Aquarium.

This aquarium is the largest freshwater aquarium in the world. The aquarium dedicated 2/3 of its facility to "the story of river". They do this by following the path of a rain drop from the tippy top of the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf Stream.
