Bug Hunts:
Help your child learn more about all the different areas of nature by going to for walks. Let your child explore the outdoors and be introduced to things they may not have noticed before. You can even help them collect some things during your walks that they find to be interesting and help them put together a nature scrapbook for them to show their friends and family members.
Thumbprint Cookies:
Now that your child is a little older you can use their help in the kitchen. One fun thing you can make is finger print cookies. You can make them from scratch or get a ready made sugar cookie dough. Spread the dough out on a pan and then have your child put their thumbprint into every cookie. Then ask them to fill each thumbprint with their favorite jelly. These cookies are and simple and fun way to help your child learn the joys of cooking.
Family Game Night:
Family game night is a great way to involve your whole family in a night of togetherness. Pick a night that works best for you, get each member of your family's favorite snack and pick a board game or card game to play. To make it fair, take turns picking what to play that way everyone is happy. Life is so hectic these days so having one night a week where you can all be together, even if it is just for a couple of hours is great. Also participating in game night will help your younger children learn the importance of taking turns, patience and how to not to be a sore loser.
Library Trips:
As your child gets older it is important that they know the importance of reading. Frequent library trips can help your child become excited about reading. All children love taking trips. So when you make a habit of taking a trip to the library, kids get excited because they feel like they are going on an adventure. Walking this big building and knowing you can explore every section for a special book excites children. Help your child discover the magic of reading by taking them to the library.
