CITY House strengthens the community by helping youth and their families resolve physical and emotional crises. They provide an interlocking suite of intervention and prevention services including a youth shelter, family counseling, and life skills education. Their goal is to enable families to function more effectively within the family unit and the community. Their newest program, "Empower," targets at-risk teen girls ages 13 to 17 by providing intensive groups and counseling for the teens and their mothers. In 2002, CITY House responded to the growing need of providing older teens and young adults with transitional living services, by creating a program called the CITY Transitional Living Program, "Progressive Pathways." This program targets homeless youths as well as pregnant and parenting youths who need support in successfully transitioning out on their own. CITY House remains the only non-profit agency in Collin County that provides emergency shelter for teens and young adults. |
