Frustrated by the growing rate of teen pregnancy and tobacco use among young people, in 1998, Dr. Sue Sisley decided there had to be a more effective way to reach teens and influence their health choices. The result was her idea to produce a series of musical theater presentations, starring middle and high school students, in the belief that most youths would rather hear from their peers and be entertained than lectured. Under that directive, Ensuring Tomorrow Productions was born. Today, she oversees a cast of 50 high school volunteers who perform in her "Think It Through Revue," a half-hour musical focused on preventing teen pregnancy; a cast of 48 teens that perform "Tobacco: the Musical," an anti-tobacco program; and a platoon of dedicated parents who help with transportation and organizing the performances. |
